Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHC) store hydrogen chemically within stable, liquid organic compounds (e.g., Dibenzyltoluene or Methylcyclohexane) through reversible hydrogenation/dehydrogenation. These compounds act as “molecular sponges,” allowing safe, ambient-pressure transportation and storage using existing oil infrastructure. LOHC offers high safety, non-toxicity, and long-term storage without self-discharge, with dehydrogenation typically occurring at 180-350°C.
