Abstract:

OceanOneK  is a robotic diver with a high degree of autonomy for deep sea intervention operations connected to a human expert through an intuitive visuo-tactile interface. The robot has been deployed in several expeditions in the Mediterranean demonstrating its ability to distance humans physically from dangerous and unreachable spaces while connecting their skills, intuition, and experience to the task. The lecture will be followed by the screening of the 52-minute documentary film, OceanOneK: The Archaeologist of the Abyss. This film, produced by Gedeon Program, presents highlights of the expedition carried out in the Mediterranean over five wrecks ranging from 40 m all the way to 852 m depth and captures these record setting moments as well as the scientific and human adventure along the way.
