Call for Applications – NTU AI-for-X Postdoctoral Fellowship 2026

Following the successful launch of the NTU AI-for-X Postdoctoral Fellowship (AI4X-PDF) in 2025, we are pleased to announce the 2026 call for applications. Jointly supported by Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Singapore’s National Research Foundation (NRF), the AI4X-PDF is a prestigious programme that aims to attract and nurture outstanding early-career researchers who apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) to accelerate scientific discovery across Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, including Medicine (STEM).

The inaugural call in 2025 attracted an excellent pool of applicants from around the world, with eight fellows selected to join NTU. Building on this strong start, we invite you to help identify and encourage promising candidates to apply for the 2026 call.

Fellowship Overview

The AI4X-PDF seeks to develop the next generation of research leaders working at the intersection of AI and STEM. The programme provides fellows with the resources, mentorship and interdisciplinary environment needed to pursue cutting-edge research while strengthening Singapore’s AI-for-Science ecosystem.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in a STEM discipline, conferred in 2023 or later;
  • Demonstrate an outstanding academic and research track record;
  • Submit a compelling research proposal that clearly integrates AI to address a significant scientific challenge;
  • Identify an NTU faculty member who has agreed to serve as the Project Mentor; and
  • Available to commence the fellowship by 31 March 2027.

Each selected Fellow will be supported by:

  • An NTU Project Mentor with expertise in the research domain; and
  • An AI Mentor (assigned or identified after selection) to strengthen the AI component of the research.

Application Process

The call will open on 1 August 2026 and close on 30 October 2026, 23:59 (Singapore Time, UTC+8).

Applications must be submitted in electronic format via NTU Online Application Portal.
